1) Click on the item that you are interested in.

2) If the item is not available in our library (signified by no location or call number), click the "Request it" icon (see below).

3) Fill out the required information, and click "Submit Request".

Redeemer University students and faculty are permitted to access and borrow print resources from McMaster University libraries as "Reciprocal Borrowers." (to apply in-person bring your Redeemer ID along with identification showing a current address)

Redeemer University students and faculty are also permitted to apply for a Guest Internet Account that allow them to use McMaster University library computers in-person only to access many of their electronic resources (with some exceptions).

Library cards are free to anyone living, working or studying in Hamilton! 

For a free HPL card, register online or at any HPL branch. Make sure to use your Redeemer email address and under "Contact Information," select the box for Redeemer student or staff/faculty. You'll receive an HPL eCard and can start borrowing digital resources right away! We're talking e-books, audiobooks, streaming services, LinkedIn Learning, and more. For more information, please see the HPL website. 

With your Library card you can:

• have your HPL holds delivered directly to the Redeemer Library for pickup.
  • To get physical items delivered to campus, browse the HPL catalogue and select "zBKMB Redeemer" as your preferred holds and pickup location.
  • You'll be notified by email when your item is ready to be picked up at the Redeemer Library desk. HPL returns can also be made at Redeemer Library.
• use any of the library branches in Hamilton, including the Ancaster HPL branch.
• borrow books, CDs, movies, magazines, video games and more
• access HPL's online resources 
• access the HPL's online newspaper, magazine, and journal collections, including:
  • The Hamilton Spectator
  • PressReader
  • Gale Academic Onefile (15,000+ academic journals)
• use HPL's public computers and printers

What is this service?

• Any current student, faculty, or staff can request books and articles not available directly through Redeemer's catalogue or databases.

How much does this cost?

• Generally, there is no charge for requests from faculty/staff and students. However, if multiple requests are made in the same budget year (especially for books that are not readily available) fees may apply.

How long do items take to get here?

• Books generally take 1-3 weeks to arrive and articles can take 1-5 business days.

Where can I pick up the items?

• Electronic materials will be emailed.
• Physical items can be picked up and dropped off at the circulation desk.

How long can I have books from other libraries?

• Generally, electronic items do not have limits on loan periods.
• Loan periods for physical items can vary and are determined by the lending institution. The loan period will be clearly stated upon checkout, and the items must be returned immediately when notified.
• Borrowers are responsible for any fees imposed by the lending libraries for materials returned late, damaged or lost.

Which requests are you unable to fill?

• Books and articles available in our library
• eBooks
• Items that violate copyright (for instance: entire issues of a periodical)
• Items held in special collections (for instance: audio visual materials, reference, and rare or new materials)
• Most course textbooks
• Large items (for instance: encyclopedias, dictionaries, concordances)
