The Philosophy of Saint Thomas Aquinas: a sketch by Stephen L. BrockPublication Date: 2015
If Saint Thomas Aquinas was a great theologian, it is in no small part because he was a great philosopher. And he was a great philosopher because he was a great metaphysician. In the twentieth century, metaphysics was not much in vogue, among either theologians or even philosophers; but now it is making a comeback, and once the contours of Thomas's metaphysical vision are glimpsed, it looks like anything but a museum piece. It only needs some dusting off.

By Knowledge and by Love: charity and knowledge in the moral theology of St. Thomas Aquinas by Michael S. SherwinPublication Date: 2005
Sherwin concludes that, far from divorcing the will from reason, Aquinas in his later works integrates reason and will more closely together. Saint Augustine says, No one can love what he does not know. this dynamic in the gift of charity, which depends on faith's knowledge, and on the knowledge provided by the other infused cognitive virtues and gifts. Charity is a virtue, and like any virtue its acts require some knowledge of their object. Sherwin argues that not only is this a faithful reading of Aquinas, it also has profound implications for any conception of moral development.

The philosophy of Saint Thomas Aquinas : a sketch by Stephen Louis BrockPublication Date: 2016
Many are studying Thomas now for the answers that he might be able to give to current questions, but he is perhaps even more interesting for the questions that he can raise regarding current answers: about the physical world, about human life and knowledge, and (needless to say) about God.

Thomas Aquinas : God and explanations by C. F. J. MartinPublication Date: 1997
This path-breaking approach to Thomas Aquinas interprets the Five Ways in the context of his theory of science. Aquinas is the leading medieval philosopher and his work is of continuing contemporary relevance. Addressing all the critical themes of authority and reason, Christopher Martin examines the role of science and definitions in medieval thought, and how to deal with the big question: is there a God? Rigorous and challenging, Martin's clear exposition compares and contrasts Aquinas' arguments with those of other philosophers, Anselm, Descartes and Kant.
