Charles Dickens lived from 1812 to 1870. He wrote Great Expectations in weekly installments from December 1860 to August 1861.
On the library website, go to the Databases page and select JSTOR (Advanced Search) and search for "Charles Dickens" (as a phrase) in publications from 1860 until his death in 1870, in order to learn how he was received by the public, particularly in the United States.
