ENG 347: 20th Century British Literature: 3. Hardy - Energized by a Sense of Loss

 The critic Richard Ellmann writes, "The archetypal scene in a Hardy poem is a man meditating on his losses, surrounded by ghosts of what he has loved or hoped for, preserving his identity in a friendless landscape only by the momentary intensity of his feeling."  Consider Hardy as a poet who is energized by a sense of loss.

Go to the full description of the above titles in order to find subject headings. Once you know the subject headings for your topic, you can do a subject (su:) search in WorldCat, which will result in more relevant books.

  • AND finds results with BOTH terms
  • OR finds results with EITHER term

 

How to find articles by using EBSCOhost Databases:

Go to EBSCOhost services and select EBSCOhost Web.  Then choose your database(s). Try the following search and refine your results.  For example, you could limit your results to recently published (in the past 5 years), full text articles in peer reviewed journals.  For more help with EBSCOhost databases, go to the library website and look under the Databases tab.
