Dooyeweerd Collection

Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977) was a professor at the Free University in Amsterdam who developed the neo-Calvinist philosophy commonly known as Reformational Philosophy.

In 1994, the Dooyeweerd Centre was established at Redeemer for the purpose of translating Dooyeweerd's works into English and ensuring that Dooyeweerd's philosophical legacy continued to influence the academic world. In its early days, the Centre was directed by the world's leading Dooyeweerd scholar, D. F. M. Strauss, and governed by an Advisory Council of prominent neo-Calvinist academics, including Al Wolters, the author of Creation Regained: Biblical Basics for a Reformational Worldview. Today, the Centre has three main areas of research: the Neo-Calvinist Bibliographic Database, the ThinkNet Forum, a Google group forum dedicated to Dooyeweerd's ideas; and the Publication Program, which is dedicated to making all of Dooyeweerd's works available in English.

In 2021, the Centre's extensive collection of Dooyeweerd's works and related content was added to the Peter Turkstra Library at Redeemer University. The Dooyeweerd Collection consists of nearly 2,000 items including 1,751 books and pamphlets, (with close to half of them in Dutch), 26 serial titles, and 181 archival items. The books, pamphlets, and serials are accessible through the library catalogue.  The archival items can be viewed upon request at the library.
