The images have very high resolution and a number of factors will affect the speed at which they load on your computer.
1. Each pdf package is made up of multiple images. Some pdf packages have more images than others and will take longer to load because of their size.
2. If you are using an older computer, the images will take longer to load.
3. If your connection to the internet is not very strong, the images will take longer to load. If you can plug your computer into a cable connection rather than wireless, it may improve.
At the outset, we made the decision to use high resolution images in order to zoom in and read the digital images, in some cases more easily than one can decipher the original documents. For example, some of the print is very tiny, some of the hand-writing is fading or illegible and some of the paper has deteriorated. Because the images have high resolution, we can zoom in very close with great clarity.
You may find it helpful to save a pdf package to your computer before you try to open it. You can do this by right-clicking on the link when you are in the database record. Then select "Save Link as."
Once you have saved it onto your computer, click on the file name to open it.
