At the outset of the CMDC project, we made the decision to use high resolution images in order to zoom in and read the digital images, in some cases more easily than one can decipher the original documents. For example, some of the print is very tiny, some of the hand-writing is fading or illegible and some of the paper has deteriorated. Because the images have high resolution, we can zoom in very close with great clarity.
Using the Firefox browser on a Windows computer, one can zoom in quite close (e.g. 400%) by clicking the plus sign or selecting from the drop-down menu as shown here:
